The cause of death for Atlanta rapper DJ Unk has been confirmed—he passed away from a heart attack, TMZ has learned.
Unk’s wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, shared that he died peacefully in his sleep on January 24. She addressed circulating rumors about his passing, firmly denying claims that drugs were involved, stating he didn’t use them.
Sherkita announced the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing, “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband, and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”
DJ Unk, whose real name was Anthony Platt, began his career in the late 1990s. He co-founded Southern Style DJs alongside DJ Montay and DJ Jelly before signing with Big Oomp Records in 2000.
In 2009, health challenges affected his career, though he continued to release music in the years that followed.
Unk tragically passed away at the age of 43, leaving behind a legacy in the Atlanta music scene and countless fans mourning his loss.
